For many Sherlockians, fan meet-ups, conventions, and other comparable gatherings are the epitome of a good time. There is no better feeling than being surrounded by people who appreciate The Great Detective in the same way you do. Fortunately, there are an uncountable number of events ranging from the Scintillation of Scions to 221B Con, and many more in-between. However, many of us find ourselves restricted from these events simply due to location. As much as we’d like to, not all of us can take a weekend — or longer — off work, or other obligations, to celebrate Holmes and Watson, but with the emergence of more conventions all around the country, the inability to travel to events is becoming less and less of a problem, as the events are coming to us! Case in point, The Left Coast Sherlockian Symposium.
The Left Coast Sherlockian Symposium was born out of the Seattle area and, as their website states, “molded in the image of Scintillation of Scions, 221B Con, and other Sherlockian events around the United States.” The LCSS is organized by a 6 person team of all west coasters and is directed by Elinor Gray. The symposium features speakers and activities, much like other events, and is centered around the appreciation of Sherlock Holmes.
Though this year’s LCSS recently ended, be sure to check out their website for more information on next year’s symposium. For more information on Sherlockian events or anything else Holmes related, be sure to peruse through the countless other pages of our site.
